Our First Vacation Part 1

This is going to be a 4 Part short story series over the next 4 days 1 blog post will be released each day check back tomorrow for part 2.

So we have decided to go on a mini Fall Vacation this Fall.

I have been on Paternity leave now for 3 weeks already, & in that time, life has been nothing but chaos, a good kind of chaos but chaos nonetheless, from taking care of my partners needs as best I have known how, to keeping the house as clean as possible, showcasing our son to family and friends, studying for an interview for a promotion at work, Halloween, ect… and so, I felt, I really was just in need of a small getaway, put my phone down, and not worry about the stresses of everyday life. Not saying that going away is going to be any less busy! Especially travelling with a newborn LOL. But getting away from home for a few days just changes the pace of life a bit.

First we tried booking a small trip to Muskoka, but just as we were 2 days away from leaving, our boy wasn’t feeling the greatest so we decided to cancel that trip to re book for another time.

If you’re thinking this is a strange time of year to go to Muskoka? You’re probably right, we wouldn’t have been able to take full advantage of any of the water activities. And Muskoka is all about water activities, boating, fishing, skiing, ect… however, there are many advantages to going at this time of year as well.

Muskoka any time of year, but especially in the Fall, is a beautiful place. Sure the evenings are cool, but nothing a dockside fire, and a glass of Red, couldn’t have fixed. The trees are all changing colours, and, because it’s the slow time of year for tourism. No crowds to contend with, no wait times to be seated in any of the restaurants, and best of all, no bugs.

Alas, it was not to be. The trip canceled and we stayed home for a few days to take care of Caspian.

As it turns out he was just fine, nothing more than some growing pains, gas, and discomfort. So Erin and I decided to book a shorter trip to Niagara Falls instead.

To be continued in Part 2. Check back tomorrow for part 2.
